HOW TO APPLY?

There are several convenient international student exchange programmes through which it is easy and direct to apply. The most important exchange channels are listed below. Students are advised to contact first the international office or official of their own university concerning the availability of these schemes at their university. Also they can contact our international exchange contact person Jouni.Niskanen@Helsinki.fi for more information and application forms.

Students who cannot use these more automated channels should send an application for the status of a visiting student to the Faculty of Science, where one can also ask for forms:

EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES

ERASMUS

The Department of Physics participates in the Socrates/Erasmus network EMSPS organized by the European Physical Society. It is possible to apply from the over a hundred European universities belonging to this network (too many to list here; ask your own university's coordinators or our contact person). We have also closer Erasmus collaboration and contacts with the following universitites

from which Erasmus exchange is very convenient.

There is no fixed quota for Erasmus students arriving to the Department of Physics.

NORDPLUS

Within the Nordic countries there is an existing Nordplus network with the following universities to and from which it should be easy to get an economically attractive scholarship for an exchange studentterm.

Application time for other Nordic universities finishes on the 10th of January.

TEMPUS

Many universities in Central and Eastern Europe belong also to the EMSPSnetwork through the Tempus program with the EU and Erasmus scholarships are available to their students.

ISEP

In North America there are about a hundred universities which participate in ISEP (International Student Echange Program) through which it is possible to come as an exchange student to Helsinki.
