Student feedback has an important role in assessment and development of teaching. All the lecturers are encouraged to exploit the course feedback system.

Instructions for Lecturers

In order to evaluate the course by means of the feedback system, the lecturer asks students to fill out the electronic feedback form. The feedback form can be found on the Web pages
of the Department of Physics and it is also definitely worth linking to the homepage of the course.

The feedback form is activated about one month at a time in the end of each period (see the times on the front page). If the feedback form is somehow not suitable for the course then a more appropriate form can be customized according to the lecturer's wishes. This form can also be kept activated as long a time as the lecturer wants.

When the answering time of the course survey is up, a feedback summary for each individual course is composed and sent to the corresponding lecturer. The lecturers are hoped to write a short response based on the course feedback, which then will be attached to the statistical summaries and put on the institution's web page. The lecturer can affect greatly on the answering activity. The most important thing is to link the feedback form to the course's homepage and remind the students to fill them out. Answering can also be made compulsorary or e.g. an extra point can be granted when feedback form is filled if the lecturer so desires. In this case the students are asked to fill in their student numbers into the student number field of the feedback form. A list of the student numbers will then be sent to the lecturer separately from the feedback summary. REMEMBER to let the contact person of the course feedback system know if you wish to use these possibilities! This ensures the lists with student numbers are sent onwards.

Things to Notice

The feedback summary is composed only if enough answers are received compared to the amount of students on the course. Lower limit is a few answers. In any case, regardless of the number of answerers, all the feedback is always delivered to the lecturer.

The students can within the answering time fill out the feedback form whenever the want. Because there are questions concerning the exam, it would be better if they answered the questionnaire when the course is finished and the exam is done.
